Pissouri - on a hilltop - is overlooking the pretty  bay.        The jetty was once one of the islands main collection points for carobs, the bean-like pods that were used in the manufacture of bakelite and gramophone records.
The carobs, known as black gold, were transported from all over the island by camel to the Pissouri jetty and other similar collection points, where they were stored in huge stone warehouses until the ships came and took them to Europe. Most of the warehouses at Pissouri have been renovated and transformed to incorporate more modern activities.

The countryside around Pissouri ranges from majestic cliffs overlooking the southerly waters of the Mediterranean, to the beautiful slopes of the Troodos Mountains.

Some kilometres westwards from Pissouri is the place called PETRA TOU ROMIOU,     a spectacular rock formation.

It was there that Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, was born from the sea. The name Aphrodite, in fact, means foam born.

The area close to Pissouri is now renowned for the outstanding golf facilities that have developed in the countryside.
